Bricket Wood Sub Aqua Club. Our club is affiliated to the British Sub Aqua Club (BSAC) (club #1194) which is the governing body for the sport in the UK and recognised by the Sports Council. Bricket Wood is located half way between Watford & St Albans. We are a small club whose membership fluctuates between 20 and 30 members and although our numbers are are relatively small our membership is relatively active. Most weekends during 'the season' you will find some of the membership out diving. The type of diving that goes on is quite diverse. We have those that use single cylinders right up to several members who now use rebreathers. We book hard boats for our dive trips as well as running our our RIB 'Rigid Inflatable Boat', which has twin outboard motors. Most of our diving takes place along the south coast and for this reason our RIB is based at Littlehampton, from Bricket Wood it takes only a couple of hours by car. Over the last few years we have travelled to: The Farne Islands, Oban, Plymouth, Lundy, Torquay & Norfolk around the UK. Overseas adventures have seen club trips to: Normandy France, Truk Lagoon, Corfu, Malta, Cyprus & Egypt. We have travelled to the Egyptian Red Sea for the last 2 years and have organised a liveaboard trip to Hurgarda in February 2006. These adventures have seen 'Wreck specials' with a 'Suez Wrecks Special' planned for the next trip. Next year members have talked about also visting Egypt, France and The Channel Islands. We are always looking for new members, however the clubs minimum age limit is 16, with some stipulations to members under the age of 18. Our training officer is very keen and new members certainly get every opportunity to progress. Your progression in diving is all down to your enthuasium and commitment. For more inforamtion about joining fees & training, please see our Training Pages or give us a call (Phone contacts), so that we can arrange a time to have a talk at the Lye Lane Sports Club. |
